  • Welcome to Birdsong Photography

This is one of those blogs that have a bazillion photos in it, so brace yourselves.

Somehow during Melissa and Brian’s rehearsal dinner, I found myself with a ukulele in the middle of a jam session. Maybe it was the beer. Maybe it was Montana. Both?

This was such a fantastic trip all around. Bighorn Lodge in Noxon, Montana is one of the most gorgeous venues I’ve ever seen. Somewhere between a lot of wine, a mysteriously acquired car battery that powered the trolling motor on the small aluminum boat I found myself in the middle of a deep and cold river, and the absolute indescribable beauty and wonder that is Montana, this wedding happened.

Melissa and Brian, thanks for being amazing. Thanks for letting me hang out in the middle of Montana again for awhile.

Sincere thanks to my good friend Jeremiah Spray for coming along on this wedding and doing an amazing job as always.montana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographermontana wedding photographer

I learned something new at this wedding.

Evidently in the South, there’s a tradition that states if you bury a bottle of bourbon upside down at the wedding ceremony site 1 month before the wedding, it won’t rain on the wedding day. As it turns out, my version of the tradition that involved drinking a bottle of bourbon during the wedding and hoping it didn’t rain was completely wrong. But hey, it always worked.  #yolo

As far as wedding traditions go, I can completely get behind this one and support it. It’s fun, it’s silly, and it involves bourbon.

Whitney and Brandon were married at the absolutely gorgeous Destin Bay House in Destin Florida. Phenomenal DJ services were provided by Vaughn VanAmburg, and the Best Food Ehvar was provided by Heyward McKenzie of Culinary Catering 365.

  • Whitney - I couldn’t recommend a photographer more than Brett Birdsong! He made my wedding day run smooth and with the least amount of stress you can imagine! He was very familiar with the Bay House and took the time to get some wonderful shots. He even offered to mix drinks for the wedding party!! Now how awesome is that. We truly couldn’t be happier with the pictures from our special day and Brett has even been kind enough to help me with my technology weaknesses! I highly recommend Brett for any venue but in particular the Bay HouseReplyCancel

I don’t post a lot of previews.

Not because I have something AGAINST previews, mind you, but mostly because my brain has the concentration ability of a bloated hamster and then life and wine happens and ….you get the idea.

This, however, happened last night at Melissa and Brian’s wedding in Noxon, Montana. Somewhere between the amount of wine being consumed, standing in a small aluminum boat while trying to not fall in the ice-cold, deep river, and not being able to comprehend the amount of gorgeousness that was happening all around me, this shot happened.

And I kind of love them. And stuff.

Maybe it was the wine.

Maybe I was just having a good beard day.

Maybe it was the fact that I was getting to work with the Destin Bay House Dream Team again of Culinary Catering 365 and abnormally sexy DJ Vaughn VanAmburg, with the added bonus of Samantha Jarrett on makeup and Supposey Florals bringing some amazing awesomeness to this wedding.

Whatever the reason, there’s a ton of photos in this blog. More photos than you can shake a stick at. Seriously, try it. See if you can do it. Won’t happen.

Amanda and Jeff got married a few months ago at the absolutely gorgeous Destin Bay House in Destin, Florida. The entire day was love and laughter, and I absolutely loved getting to be around their families for the day. Sincere thanks to all the amazing vendors that once again did a freaking fantastic job, and most of all to Amanda and Jeff. Thank you guys for letting me be a part of your day.

And as many times as I’ve done it, I’m ending this blog with a long exposure shot of the Bay House at night. I love that place.

This was an absolutely perfect day.

I’mma preach a minute, you aight with that? Aight.

I love great wedding vendors. Not like, fist bump, bro hug love. But deep, dirty, sincere, 50 shades of adore….love.

For the glorious and wonderful state of Florida, hands down my favorite wedding vendors in the Gulf Coast area are the Destin Bay House, Heyward McKenzie with Culinary Catering 365, and Vaughn VanAmburg with Vaughn VanAmburg DJ. Whenever I get a call from a bride and she tells me that this is the group of vendors she’s picked, I usually do this Chris Farley-esque happy dance on the other end of the phone with some weird animal grunting noises of happiness. That’s a true story. Just ask Kelli.

I love these people because they’re completely amazing at what they do. All of them. And I know that when all these people come together to put on a wedding, I have absolutely jack squat to worry about in regards to my couple having a really great wedding day. And you know what? A happy couple makes for happy photos. And that makes me happy. And it’s a big old happy cycle of happiness. See?

That said, I was fortunate enough to work with this Awesome Group of Amazing People for Kelli and Devin’s wedding a couple of months ago. It was an absolutely gorgeous day with some really amazing people, and in spite of a tiny bit of rain that evening, all went amazingly well for that day.

To Kelli and Devin, thanks for allowing me to be a part of your amazing day. I wish you guys all the best. To Erin, Heyward, and Vaughn, thank you guys for being absolutely amazing. Here’s to many more years of group hugs and selfies. To the insanely talented Anne Almasy, thanks for hanging out and shooting this wedding with me. You kicked all kinds of photographical butt.
